The Aftercare Company UK / The Hemp Company
The Aftercare Company UK, a trading division of The Hemp Company, was established in 2000 and is owned by Scottish couple, James & Shirley Jaffrey.
After discovering that there was no suitable aftercare being made in the UK for the skin following tattooing and body piercing, Shirley developed two product lines Tattoo Aftercare®, an all natural ointment for use after tattooing and BPA Safe Solutions® body piercing aftercare oil, both made by Body & Face in Scotland.
Shirley and Jim are based in Chester from where they handle the distribution of their products to tattoo studios all over the UK and Europe. The overseas operation continues to grow from sales via their website and through distributors in Sweden, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Indonesia and Australia. During summer 2008 they launched their brand in the United States on the 4th July, coincidentally Shirleys birthday.
Her all natural product Tattoo Aftercare® has received many accolades over the years and is used by tattoo artist Louis Molloy (master artist to many of Britains A-list celebrities) who also used the product while filming two series of the reality TV show London Ink shown on the Discovery Real Time channel 240 in 2007 and 2008. Shirleys blend (the Scots are famous for their blending skills) was awarded the first ever Golden Bunny by the BUAV in 2005.
